Examples of Charterparties

The Shipping Company Gustaf Erikson archives, series Hb, holds six volumes of charterparties from 1910-1947. The series is arranged alphabetically by the vessel's name.

A charterparty is a contract between the shipowner and the charterer. In the contract, the shipowner agrees to hire or lease his/her ship for the carriage of passengers or cargo. The charterer in turn takes responsibility for the cargo. Gustaf Erikson's agent, the British H. Clarkson & Co. Ltd., usually signed charterparties on behalf of Gustaf Erikson.
